The automotive electric power steering system is kind of steering system which can provide auxiliary torque through an electric motor, replacing traditional HPS(hydraulic power steering). The common Rigid-Flex board FPC part is relatively soft and lacks of support. Our PCB uses bending resistant FR4 material, compares to the conventional process usually, uses the method of controlling the depth of CNC milling step grooves.The CNC milling cutter in this process is prone to damage the FR4 glass fiber structure, which is easy to break during bending. After evaluation, the method of CNC milling grooves first and then laminating can effectively avoid this phenomenon.The bending area of the final product can withstand multiple folds, improving the rigidity of the printed circuit board. And the assembly can also save external connectors and reduce the overall mounting space.
